In order to fully demonstrate the performance of the engine, it is essential to suppress water temperature rise. The SPOON core thickness was increased to 36 mm, and cooling efficiency was improved by optimizing the fin shape. The factory fan shroud and condenser can also be installed. An additional 1/8PT bung is included for the ability to add a sensor.

The Competition Intercooler has the following core dimensions (715mm x 162mm x 122mm / stepped = 12.700cm³). The high-performance intercooler core provides a 42% larger frontal area and 144% more volume compared to the stock mounted intercooler. Our engineers have increased the intercooler core size and efficiency, as well as improved the end tank design to remove any OEM bottlenecks, resulting in increased flow rating and charge cooling properties. We use our award-winning WAGNERTUNING Competition Intercooler Core which is made specifically for this application. Constructed of the highest quality Tube Fin intercooler cores with inside turbulators combined with cast aluminium end tanks optimised by CFD for best possible internal airflow. The intercooler kit was developed directly for high-tuning stages and is optionally available with Ø60mm piping. The result is excellent cooling properties and a lot less pressure drop than the stock intercooler. Despite its size the weight of the complete intercooler is only 7,5kg. This Intercooler Kit is the best choice when it comes to performance gains and low intake temperatures and is also the right thing for racing. All of our intercoolers use an anti-corrosion protective coating with perfect thermal heat dissipating character. Optimal cooling with clearly more power. Our upgraded charge pipe kit utilizes smooth flowing, larger inner diameter hot (1.50" factory compared to 2.00") and cold-side (1.5" factory compared to 2.5") for increased airflow and factory diameter hot-side outlet to aid in turbocharger spool. 4-ply silicone couplers are used throughout our design for a couple of reasons:
Heat-soak reduction: Silicone hose offers extremely low thermal heat transfer properties, especially in comparison to steel or aluminium.
Strength and rigidity: The rubber hoses used from the factory are known to experience expansion, which worsens as boost is increased. In time, the rubber construct weakens, causing increased likeliness of a boost leak. Our high-temp, 4-ply silicone handles the high temperatures of the turbocharger much better than the factory rubber hose(s).
Smooth airflow: Custom molded silicone allows us to offer much higher flowing bends than we could with metal tubing.
Optimal fitment: We have found that the factory rubber hoses don't offer the most desirable fitment, especially when paired with an aftermarket radiator. Our silicone hose(s) offer even better fitment than the factory.
Kits will come with all hardware needed for a seamless installation.

It’s no secret that Honda’s 1.5L turbo Civic is extremely susceptible to heat soak, especially when retaining the factory intercooler. Excessive heat-soak increases the risk of detonation and causes major power loss due to high charge air and cylinder temperatures. These issues become even more prevalent with spirited driving and/or increased power outputs. The PRL Motorsports intercooler upgrade decreases charge air temperatures while increasing potential airflow with its dense 550+ horsepower rated (though we have pushed 600+) 25.5x4x6.3” bar-and-plate bar-and-plate core and machined billet aluminium end tanks! This intercooler utilizes factory mounting spots with our embossed end tanks. Kits will come with all hardware needed for a seamless install.
