Here we have our all-new FK8 Civic Type R intercooler kit, this is a direct fit kit with no need for drilling holes or cutting.

Designed to mount in the OE location, the Dream intercooler offers a higher level of performance in both flow and cooling capacity. In a beautifully engineered and affordable package, it features a hand-built core with high-flow end tanks and bespoke CNC-finished inlet & outlet flanges.

We believe that using a tube and fin design, works more efficiently than a plate and bar setup. The core is 100mm deep using a single internal tube, We use an internal tubulated tube to allow better heat dissipation from the charge air temperatures.

FUN FACT: Our intercooler has also proudly helped us throughout the Time Attack season in 2019 and also win the Championship!

All cores will come powder-coated black with the option of a painted Dream logo in several colours.

It’s no secret that Honda’s 2.0L turbo Civic is extremely susceptible to heat-soak, especially when retaining the factory intercooler. Excessive heat-soak increases the risk of detonation and causes major power-loss due to high charge air and cylinder temperatures. These issues become even more prevalent with spirited driving and/or increased power outputs.

The PRL Motorsports intercooler upgrade decreases charge air temperatures while increasing potential airflow with its dense 26.5 x 3.5 x 7.25" 550+ horsepower rated bar-and-plate core. Our intercooler core which increases surface area by 85% and internal flow by 83% to allow optimal cooling and airflow. Billet machined aluminum end tanks maximize efficiency while looking as smooth as they flow! 

This intercooler utilizes factory mounting spots with our billet machined end tanks as well as all factory air ducts/shrouds. To maintain consistency with most of our PRL product line, no cutting, fitting, or trimming is required. Kits will come with all hardware needed for a seamless install.

If you plan to utilize the provided stencil to represent PRL on your intercooler:

• Clean and make sure your intercooler is dry.
• Place the cardboard stencil onto the front of the intercooler (Make sure the intercooler is not upside down, the PRL logo is on the driver's side end tank).
• It is recommended to tape down the stencil to have a sharp logo and to avoid moving.
• Mask off or cover the end tanks to avoid overspray.
• Apply a high temp engine enamel style spray paint (we recommend Duplicolor DE1635 Ford SemiGloss Black, any color can be used).
• Multiple coats may be needed to have full coverage, this varies per color.
• Allow drying 30-60 minutes before installing the intercooler.
• If any mistakes are made such as runs/overspray acetone or paint thinner can be used to remove any unwanted paint or to remove the stencil entirely, though this will take some time.
• Keep the stencil handy and in a safe spot without bending if you would like to refresh your intercooler after years of road debris blasting it! (Stop blowing holes in my ship!)

Competition Intercooler Kit for Honda Civic Type R

The WAGNERTUNING high-performance intercooler has got a new competition core (Tube Fin) with the dimensions 670 mm x 183,4 mm x 125 mm (15.4 litres)/ 26,38Inch x 7,22Inch x 4,92Inch (939,76Inch³), which was developed especially for the requirements of the Honda Civic Type R FK8. This high-performance core offers a 91 % larger frontal surface and 140 % more core volume compared to the stock intercooler.

The aluminium cast end tanks were designed in CAD and optimised in CFD simulations (for an ideal internal airflow). An incorporated air baffle inside the intercooler inlet ensures a uniform filling of the intercooler. The result is an excellent cooling property with minimal backpressure. The newly developed competition high-performance core is very light and provides the adjoining components (for example the watercooler) enough airflow by using a specially prepared air baffle. That`s why this kit is perfect for racing use. An optimal cooling effect of the charged air with a significant increase in performance!

An anti-corrosion powder coating with perfect heat-conducting properties protects the WAGNERTUNING intercooler from all environmental influences, so a lasting and optimal cooling effect can be guaranteed. The installation is done by replacing the original intercooler and is easy to perform (plug and play). All our products are subject to continuous quality monitoring.

DESCRIPTION

The K20C engine generates 320ps with 2.0 displacement; therefore, the vehicle is equipped with a water-cooled oil cooler to stabilize the extremely high engine output. However, under circuit driving, the temperature of both oil and water rise sharply because adequate heat radiation cannot be obtained, and fail-safe mode becomes activated. Adding HKS air cooling type oil cooler kit provides high heat exchange efficiency to suppress the temperature rise not only of the oil but also the water. HKS oil cooler kit includes a special aluminium air guide.

The Spoon Aluminium radiator is constructed 100% from aluminium and is recommended for street, fast road or heavy track use. Constructed in the same shape as the manufacturing unit the core thickness is increased from 27mm to 36mm. Core pressure and the cooling effect is improved by about 40%.
Spoon has developed a new fin design to allow for air to pass through the radiator to air cooling. There is also a 1/8 Sensor Boss FItted for Aftermarket Sensor

The FK8's water temperature cooling system cannot keep up with the amount of heat generated by the genuine product. As the main point Turbo heat generation amount is very large, such as a turbine for the high output capacity shortage and the fins issues radiator core hard spots hardly strike the traveling wind core heat does not remove easily in-engine room.

Regarding this FK8, it is necessary to improve the cooling performance not only for the thermostat, sports coolant, and aero parts, but also for the total cooling performance, and improving the heat exchange performance of the radiator is a major point for improving the cooling performance.

J'S RACING has been conducting radiator tests and prototypes for a long period of time, but we have adopted a triple-turn type in search of specifications that exceed those of conventional aluminum radiators. Redesigned so that the outside position of the cooling water can be changed and heat exchange can be performed evenly over the entire area. Although the design has inevitably increased the number of parts and costs, it was an unavoidable decision to lower the average water temperature even once.

As a result of a comparative test at the Suzuka Circuit International Racing Course using our demo car, the water temperature during the lap was -25 ℃ at maximum and the average -15 ℃ cooling effect was exhibited in the fully open running of 6 laps including INOUT, and the water temperature rise speed. We were able to confirm the decrease and the increase in the speed of decrease in water temperature. (* 1, * 2)

By stabilizing the water temperature it is possible to obtain various benefits such as power down and prevention of fuel consumption deterioration by correcting the high water temperature of the ECU.

It is a must-have item not only for street users but also for circuit users!

 The cooling system of your car is one of the most important parts, without one your engine would be useless in minutes. Many people change the cap for esthetic reasons alone, and while we like things to look good, there has to be a more important reason. What does the radiator cap do? Other than the most apparent reason, allowing you to fill your radiator, the radiator cap is an essential part of the system. As the coolant gets hot, it expands creating pressure inside of the system, and when it reaches a certain point, this pressure is then released through the radiator cap plunger into an overflow tank. Once the pressure has dropped below the desired level the plunger inside of the cap will close.

So why should you upgrade your radiator cap? Increased pressure in your cooling system can increase the boiling temperature. By upgrading to a stronger cap, you can effectively raise the boiling temperature of your system, reducing the risk of having your coolant turn into steam which then will cause cavitation. Cavitation, or air pockets, will prevent the coolant from actually cooling the engine which can result in extreme wear and damage vital engine parts. The OEM cap is rated at 1.1 bar and the Hybrid Racing cap is rated at 1.3 bar!

The water temperature at which the engine can exert its power most efficiently is 70 to 80 ° C, but if it rises above that temperature, a sudden power down will occur.
This is because the ECU controls the fuel increase and ignition timing retard in order to prevent knocking in the combustion chamber due to the rise in water temperature.

The low temp thermostat developed this time has a valve opening temperature of 68 ° C (genuine 78 ° C) and a fully open temperature of 81 ° C (genuine 90 ° C), which is about 10 ° C lower than the genuine thermostat. Cooling water circulates quickly in the radiator, and cooling is started before the water temperature rises to prevent power down.

In a HONDA vehicle with a high power engine, the water temperature and engine power are in a close relationship, and when the water temperature rises, the ECU increases fuel consumption and ignition timing. Measures for avoiding a crisis such as retardation (correction MAP) are taken, and a sudden power-down starts.

This product sets the valve opening temperature (the temperature at which the main valve (watergate) “opens”) lower than that of a normal thermostat and circulates cooling water early to the radiator to maintain an ideal water temperature of 75°C. It is possible to set the temperature to around 85°C, suppress and prevent power down, thermal sag and knocking, and bring out the original engine power.

It can be completely bolted on from normal radiators to racing cars such as super endurance cars.

Coolant hoses are exposed to harsh environments due to heat radiation from the engine and pressure and temperature changes in the coolant fluid. In addition, the genuine rubber hose expands due to the pressure of the cooling fluid and the pressure is also lost. Deterioration of this hose may cause trouble. 

J'S RACING coolant hoses are made by SFS Performance in the UK. It is hard to be hardened by severe temperature change with polystar silicon 3 layer structure and is excellent in heat resistance and pressure resistance.

Even if the load is high in sports driving that uses high engine speed, pressure loss is prevented and high durability is ensured.
