The Honda’s air intake system is renowned for its innovative method to control the intake pulsation of the normally aspirated engine, optimizing the response and drivability. It is a high-performance air intake system distinctively designed to lower the intake air temperature.

Our Air Cleaner for the CIVIC TYPE R (FL5) has been developed to maximize the potential of the air intake system.

Increasing the material density of the air filter allows for a greater particle collection capability but decreases the airflow.
Using filter materials with lower density may allow for greater airflow, however, you trade in the particle removal capabilities. More than that, the excessive airflow may cause a decrease in lower-end torque thus hampering the overall drivability.

The filtration material of our Air Cleaner was carefully developed, optimizing the torque/power output on the dyno and undergoing numerous real world road testing.
The SPOON SPORTS Air Cleaner was developed to bring out the maximum potential of the CIVIC TYPE R (FL5).

Maintenance does not require the application of filter oil or cleaning with the cleaning agent, just blow off dust with an air gun.

This pump kit is designed for direct injection engine builds making more than 500 hp with flex-fuel or 550 hp with high octane race fuel. Up to those power levels, the stock in tank pump is adequate to supply the direct injection fuel pump. Check with data logging. If your DIFP (direct injection fuel pressure) is dropping you need a pump upgrade. This is much more obvious with flex fuel as it requires up to 40 % more volume than race fuel.

The Hondata fuel system has been tested on multiple vehicles for over a year and thousands of daily driven miles. Multiple calibrations are included starting with an increase of 90 lb-ft torque and 57 hp over stock with intercooler and high flow cat. The PRL Motorsports Plug ‘n Play WiFi Flex-Fuel / Ethanol Content Analyzer Kit allows customers to wirelessly monitor ethanol content via any smart device or enable flex fuel via an optional 0.5-4.5V configurable output with a tuning device. Our innovative Patent Pending design utilizes the factory fuel line, which eliminates the chance for alternative fuel line deterioration and improves aesthetics. This kit utilizes factory plugs/outputs under the hood for power and communication to the ECU, meaning no need for additional wiring, cutting, splicing or running wires to the fuse box or through the firewall into the cabin! All hardware and bracketry is include for quick and easy installation. Kits can be installed and uninstalled within minutes. Please note that our kit does NOT utilize an ethanol content gauge, as we feel that this is unnecessary. Hondata and KTuner V1.2 both offer Bluetooth capabilities, while the KTuner V2 LCD screen can be used to display ethanol content if desired. All components are ethanol compliant!

Did you know that the factory fuel line assembly is actually Teflon and extremely resistant to ethanol-base fuels?

The factory fuel line is actually constructed with an EPDM (fuel and oil resistant synthetic rubber) outer hose and inner ETFE (another Teflon coating that is similar to PTFE) liner, which offers great resistance to a variety of fuels, including ethanol-based fuels. Because of this, there is no reason to "upgrade" or replace the factory fuel line assembly when used with this Ethanol Content Analyzer / Flex Fuel Kit unless kinked or damaged (please note the "Do Not Kink" Warning located on the line).

Why Run Ethanol?

Due to rising gas prices and the push for alternative fuel sources, ethanol, derived primarily from corn, has become a common, cost-effective fuel choice. Ethanol has now found its way into most modern gas stations and the community now understands its list of benefits in comparison to gasoline, such as the fact ethanol burns cleaner, cooler and is more resistant to detonation. Because of these characteristics, ethanol is a cheap alternative to expensive race fuels like race gas and/or methanol, especially with high(er) compression factory turbocharged vehicles. E85 = 85% Ethanol and 15% Gasoline whereas E30 = 30% Ethanol and 70% Gasoline and so-on.

What is Flex Fuel?

In a nutshell, “flex-fuel” allows an internal combustion engine to flexibly utilize one or more different fuels (usually gasoline blended with either ethanol or methanol fuel), and both fuels are stored in the same common fuel tank. Flex-Fuel systems utilize an ethanol content analyzer to determine the amount of ethanol in a fuel system and a converter to send this reading to the vehicle’s ECU to instantaneously adjust for varying fuel mixtures.

It is a must-do upgrade to replace the engine mount bush when performing hard sports driving! In particular, the OEM torque rod is greatly twisted during acceleration and deceleration of high-powered vehicles, resulting in a number of disadvantages during sports driving.
